Jason Wilson: This DWR Player Never Gives Up

Jason Wilson, currently playing in the third season of the Hero Hockey India League 2015 is one of the star players of Delhi Waveriders and a national level Australian field hockey player. He has been playing as a striker cum forward player for DWR and has helped his team bag a gold medal in the 2013 HHIL followed by a win in the next season.

Jason hails from Queensland, Australia and made his debut in the field of club hockey in 2003.  He is actually a striker and by the age of 17, he had engaged himself in several matches in Australia’s major towns and cities. He had played for state and national level representing Queensland. After 2003, he started playing for the Australian Eastern Suburbs in 2005. During that time he represented all the three teams of the club Tweed Heads, in New South Wales under the categories of senior field hockey state representative, U21 and U18.

In the year 2009, Wilson was playing for the national team where he played against Malaysia. He also attended a Europe tour where he played against England. In 2010 he played in the Hockey Champions Trophy, where Australia grabbed the first rank. He even participated at Commonwealth Games 2010 bagging a gold medal. The final match was against India where Australia won 8-0 and he contributed 2 goals. He played Azlan Shah Cup also participated in the Summer Olympics of 2012. He scored one goal in the Champions Trophy 2011.

Wilson is undoubtedly a player who never gives up. “If you love hockey, you got to love the Waveriders,” says the forward player who has been exhibiting veritably electrifying performances in all the matches played so far in the Hero Hockey India League 2015
