Yuvraj Walmiki: The Mr. Consistent of DWR Team

Yuvraj Walmiki, forward player of the Delhi Waveriders has emerged to be one of the most consistent players of this team. The last two seasons of the Hero Hockey India League explicitly showcased Walmiki’s impressive performance. His immaculate contribution during the second season of HHIL helped the Delhi Waveriders reach its final. Yuvraj was born in Aligarh, a small town in Uttar Pradesh and spent his growing years in Mumbai. As a national level hockey player, the DWR forward player has participated in various major national tournaments in India. He played in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012 held in Malaysia where India won a bronze medal. This champion was also present in the Indian team during the Hockey Champions Challenge of 2011 where India grabbed a silver medal. His presence in the 2011 Asian Champions Trophy helped India win the gold medal. Unfortunately, he was unable to play for India in the London Olympics of 2012 due to an injury while playing the qualifying rounds. Yuvraj has also been playing for the German League second division since 2010 for a club called TG Frankenthal. He became the highest scorer consecutively for two years in seasons, 2011 and 2012. “I am proud to be a player of the Delhi Waveriders,” says Walmiki. “We are determined to play an attacking game and replicate previous year’s performance this time too!” he adds.
